ALGOIST Convivium, 6-week exhibition program, Erratum Galerie, Berlin, 2018

ALGOIST is an interdisciplinary artist collective.

In 2018, we organized the six week-long exhibition program ALGOIST Convivium at the project space Erratum Galerie in Berlin. Our program included installations, workshops, lectures and performances. With the performance Bodies, Mathias Gramoso and I interacted with the works of our collective partners. In times of constant self-expression, we became empty shells, projection screens and disruptive elements.

ALGOIST: Nina Barret-Mémy, Alice Chardenet, Roman Gebhardt, Götz Sophie Schramm, Andrea Karch, Joana Huguenin, Lukas Mayer, Alexandra Lange, Natascha Schoenaich, Mathias Gramoso

Guests: Pourya Alimirzaee, Wera Bunge, Lily Matras, Nicklas Riekötter, Eva Funk

15.3.–21.4.18 BODIES
(Mathias Gramoso, Andrea Karch)
The performers become part of their collective partners’ works. Within an environment of constant expression they, on the contrary, become shells, projection surfaces and disruptive elements.

15.3.– 18.3.18 HOW TO MAKE MYSELF A MASTER
(Joana Huguenin, Lukas Mayer)
Using a live camera video projection and algorithms, the participatory installation revolves around the notion of (real-) time and social interaction in the era of the self.

22.3.– 25.3.18 THE ANALOGUE IMMERSIVE TOUR TO ETERNIA
(Natascha Schoenaich, Götz Sophie Schramm)
The installation brings together light, private artifacts and the paintings of different artists whose works resonate with the concept of a modern Eternia.

30.3.– 8pm PROCEDERE II
(Alice Chardenet, Götz Sophie Schramm, Nicklas Riekötter)
Join us for a handstand workshop. Learn about the social concept of mutual help with your head upside down. Based on the Situationist International, human geographer Nicklas Riekötter will guide you for one hour through sociological, historical and philosophical questions.

5.4.18, 6pm – 9pm ON MAKING A POINT
(Lily Matras)
By means of recycled slideshows from her studies will Lily Matras be able to make a point of power? The presentation will be held subsequently in French, English and German.

7.4.18 INVITATION
(Nina Barret-Mémy)
A moment.

12.4.– 15.04.18 SONIC THERAPY SYSTEMS II — BOTANICS
(Roman Gebhardt, Natascha Schoenaich)
The second installation of the Sonic Therapy Systems trilogy fuses light and sound with the biometrical measures of human beings and plants, by imaging the data to a sonic level.

20.4.18, 6pm – 9pm
EVA FUNK ON: CHEWING (ON/OVER AND OUT)
The individual as well as the body of society is exhausted and fragmented. Everything we have is chewing gum. After the nuclear bomb hit Hiroshima and the skin melted off bones, American soldiers gave kids some chewing gum. They were sugary and addictive, but ultimately lacking in nutritional value. Eva Funk has always been told that she was not allowed to swallow the gum, because it would stick together in her stomach. Now it is in her eyes and ears. Chewing gum, chewing gun, chewing gum. The hands are holding what they can, but who sweats loses. 1 Bullet for kids. Happy meal. Yes.

21.4.18, 4pm – 5pm WERA BUNGE READS KATE TEMPEST: HOLD YOUR OWN
In her work on the blind clairevoyant Teiresias, Kate Tempest fuses questions of identity, time and gender. Theatre veteran Wera Bunge lends her voice to the text which will be performed in German.

21.4.18, 6pm – 9pm OPEN SPACE
As the closing event of the program, a free space for discussion, questions and spontaneous contributions will be set up for everyone.
